The comprehensive profile provides an in-depth look on Ole Scheerens work with skyscrapers, but also the smaller-scale work of the international office. The discussion evolves around his involvement in creating the landmarks in Beijing, Singapore, and Bangkok, and his much-awaited return to Germany.
Asked about Riverpark Tower, the transformation project of an existing office tower currently in development in Frankfurt, Ole Scheeren remarked: "Riverpark Tower is exciting because it is not a new building. We are converting an office complex from the 70s into residential space.
Throughout Europe, there is a large stock of old buildings that are no longer adequate. We are transforming a massive building that was built in the brutalist style into something light, open and positive. The existing concrete columns, which one would not longer use today because of high costs, create unimagined opportunities. We can install 20 meter wide panoramic windows without interruption."
